To commerate the surrender of the German World War 1 U Boat fleet in November 1918 a Heritage Walk as been set up around Shotley.

The walk will last approximately two hours thirty minutes, and is five and half miles. It describes the view across the river Stour to Parkeston quay, Harwich in 1918 when the U Boat fleet surrendered to Britain.
From the river Stour the walk cuts across country to Shotley Saint Marys Church. The Church has two Commonwealth war cemetries and a Submariners cemetry and memorial.
After spending time at the Church the walk returns to Shotley Marina along the banks of the river Orwell.
